About Our Village - Pediatric Speech Therapy
Our Village - Pediatric Speech Therapy offers speech therapy with care, experience, and convenience. Speech therapy sessions occur in your child’s home. I come to you! I work with children three to 16 years of age addressing speech, language, and reading difficulties.
I specialize in the following: speech sound disorders, language disorders, executive functioning, literacy concerns and language based learning struggles like dyslexia, and stuttering.
Our Approach
I want your child to look forward to their speech therapy sessions! I believe in making therapy engaging and interactive therapy. I provide thorough and effective treatment through a collaborative and warm approach striving for a balance of educating, advocating for, and treating individuals. I believe in parent and/or caregiver involvement and actively invite them in therapy session(s) where applicable. I utilize a strengths-based approach and will always be there to celebrate your child!
Our Process
1) Reach out with your concerns. Not sure if your child needs a speech-language evaluation? No problem - let’s schedule a complimentary phone screening to discuss your child and determine next steps.
2) Schedule an evaluation. We will conduct an evaluation of your child’s speech, language, and communication skills using formal and informal testing, caregiver/child interview, and collaboration with other team members where applicable (e.g., teacher, school-based SLP, etc.). Following the evaluation, we will provide feedback and develop a treatment plan specific to your child if warranted. An in-depth evaluation report will be provided following this assessment.
3) Start therapy sessions. If warranted, we will schedule follow up speech therapy sessions to address concerns at a frequency specific to your child. This could be one time per week, two times per month, etc. This really depends on your child and our goals which is why a thorough evaluation is so important. Therapy sessions will be fun, engaging, interactive through play and/or structured activities using evidence-based techniques and strategies and a neurodiversity affirming approach.
4) Home programming. After each therapy session, we will check-in about what to work on at home. Materials will be provided as needed. Caregivers will receive strategies and tools to support their child.
5) Monitor progress. Speech therapy is not meant to be forever! We monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as needed to ensure we are optimizing progress.
Testimonials
“Our family has had the pleasure of working with Ms. Meghan for the past 4 years! Both of our daughters, who have a rare genetic disorder which significantly interferes with their speech development, worked closely with Ms. Meghan. Our girls loved their time in speech therapy and made impressive progress, gaining strong foundational skills and overall communication skills. Each of their therapy sessions was thoughtfully tailored to their interests and conducted with warmth and patience. We cannot recommend Ms. Meghan enough!”
— Maria O.
“My kids have worked with many therapists for their complex needs. Meghan stands apart for her creativity and dedication to finding ways to keep them engaged. She communicated very well with our family and gave us ideas to practice communication skills between appointments.”
— Joe M.
